Senior Design Engineer\nNottingham (Hybrid – 1 day WFH)\n£45,000 – £60,000 + Benefits\nFull-time | Permanent\n\nA specialist engineering consultancy, operating as part of a rapidly expanding international group, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative electro-mechanical products while playing a key role in taking designs from concept through to manufacture and certification.\n\nWorking within a close-knit, highly skilled team, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact while benefiting from the backing and global reach of a larger organisation.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions and supporting projects across the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:\n\n * Designing electro-mechanical systems (including switchgear) using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks\n\n * Producing detailed manufacturing drawings\n\n * Conducting simulations (FEA/CFD) using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS\n\n * Building, testing, and developing prototypes for certification\n\n * Collaborating with global technical and manufacturing teams\n\n * Producing and updating technical documentation (installation, operation, and maintenance manuals)\n\n * Providing technical support across international group companies\n\n * Occasional international travel to customer and manufacturing sites for support, development, and training\n\nAbout You\n\nWe’re looking for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys seeing designs through from concept to production.
You’ll ideally have experience in switchgear or electro-mechanical systems and be comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.\n\nYou will also have:\n\n * Minimum 5 years’ experience using 3D CAD in a production environment\n\n * Strong communication skills (written and verbal)\n\n * A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in a team\n\n * Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365\n\n * Strong analytical skills, including hand calculations\n\nDesirable Skills\n\n * SolidWorks (including simulation)\n\n * AutoCAD (2D electrical layouts and wiring diagrams)\n\n * ANSYS Maxwell or similar simulation tools\n\n * Experience with FEA/CFD software\n\n * Knowledge of international design/testing standards\n\n * Basic coding or automation skills (macros, microcontrollers, etc.)\n\n * Practical machining experience\n\n * Additional languages\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Opportunity to work on global projects with international travel\n\n * A visible role within a growing business where your contributions matter\n\n * Clear career progression within a larger group structure\n\n * Early finish on Fridays\n\nIf you’re an engineer who enjoys a hands-on approach and wants to be part of a growing international business, this could be an excellent next step in your career
